THE BANKSIA STORY

Trentham Estate resides on the beautiful banks of the Murray River where it is home to hundreds of species of native flora and fauna. Leading down to the river is our native garden abundant with wildlife. It is here that the local lorikeets munch on the native Banksia flower. As the spectacular sun sets to mark the end of another day, the local wildlife animate the natural landscape. 2020 has created a time for reflection. Many people have reconnected with nature and for the first time many have enjoyed bird watching and taking in the natural surrounds.

Last year we worked quietly on a new wine brand for our export and domestic markets. Meet BANKSIA. The wines are fruit forward and approachable, breathing new life into classic varieties from our region. We think it’s our prettiest label yet! Do you agree?

What’s even more impressive is the Banksia label has already been awarded two Silver Medals at international design shows, including the 2021 Harpers Design Awards (UK) and the 2021 World Brand Wine Awards.

The peaceful but colourful aspect of the design has already captured interest and hearts from abroad, where the range has found a space on the shelves in Brazil. We hope to see Banksia available later this year domestically, and also half a world away in Belgium!

Our current wines in the collection include:

  • Sauvignon Blanc  Bright, crisp, tropical aromatics with sweet, green, leafy herbs and juicy fruit salad. Balance this with good friends, salt and pepper squid and ‘Little Red Corvette’ by Prince on the radio.

  • Rosé  Pale pink with soft, red fruits of cranberry and pomegranate, and hints of fresh strawberry. Delicious raspberry palate with crunchy acidity. Sun, sunnies and oysters!

  • Cabernet Sauvignon  Ripe blood plum and fragrant violet aromas. The rich, layered palate shows dark chocolate and spice, blackberry fruits and soft elegant tannins. Round, juicy and mouth-watering.

Please note, these wines are not currently available from our Cellar Door.
