Trentham Estate is thrilled to announce its 2020 ‘The Family’ Sangiovese Rosé has been awarded the trophy for Best Murray Darling Region Wine at this year’s Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show (AAVWS), held in Mildura in early November.

Over 500 wines were judged at the show, however the overall format was slightly different this year with the events moving online for the first time in the show’s 20-year history.  Instead of the popular long lunch where the trophy winners are announced, a live stream over Facebook took place.

Trentham’s Chief Winemaker and Managing Director, Anthony Murphy, was thrilled with the news, saying “we are over the moon to receive this award for our latest Sangiovese Rosé, and it exemplifies the excellent vintage we had in 2020.”

Trentham Estate is no stranger to trophy wins from the AAVWS – in fact, it has taken the title for the Best Murray Darling Region Wine six times over the years, with this trophy the second of its kind for a rosé from Trentham.  This is also not the first award received by the 2020 ‘The Family’ Sangiovese Rosé – last month, the wine was the proud recipient of a Gold medal at the Riverland Wine Show.

‘The Family’ Sangiovese Rosé is a delicate aromatic wine showing notes of pomegranate and rhubarb, hints of spicy rose petal, and lavender. The palate is brought to life by juicy cranberry and cherry fruit. A sophisticated style with a dry finish, made to be enjoyed chilled
