Another vintage is done and dusted, and the 2024 vintage will be remembered for its swift onset and brisk tempo. Harvest kicked off on 29 January and was all wrapped up by 11 April with the last of the vines being picked. This vintage will go down as one of the best, experiencing consistently dry, warm conditions with no rain events. The fruit's quality was exceptional.
In contrast to previous years, this season saw a warm, dry spring accompanied by below-average rainfall. Summer witnessed no rainfall, just consistent warm days, this helped the fruit to ripen perfectly.
Highlights of the white harvest included the aromatic whites such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris and the reds were very good across the board.
We are currently blending our older reds and looking at putting our newer reds to barrel. We have also started bottling some of our 2024 whites.
Some of our southern Victorian reds such as Great Western & Heathcote are looking fantastic with great colour & flavour.
This year we created something special for our Wine Club members, a full-bodied, oaked chardonnay. It’s much bigger in style to our Estate Chardonnay. Wine Club members will need to look out for it. It will be released later this year in September.
Overall, it was a small vintage in comparison to previous years, but the quality looks to be fantastic. We can’t wait to share our 2024 wines with you.
