Our alternative varieties have shone once again, receiving some fantastic results at the recent Riverland Wine Show and the Australian Inland Wine Show. Dessert wine 2012 Noble Taminga took out its second Gold medal at the Riverland, and the 2014 Estate Verdejo received Gold and two Trophies at the Australian Inland competition - Best Murray Darling Region Wine and also the Chief Judges Discretionary award. Wines to receive Silver included the superb 2013 Estate Shiraz, also at the Riverland Wine Show. The 2012 Taminga continues to do us proud after receiving Gold and a Trophy at New Zealand's Spiegelau International Wine Show, following Silver medals at the New Zealand International Wine Show and the Royal Perth Wine Show. The unique botrytis style shows a light yellow gold colour with delicious aromas of citrus blossom and honey, weaved in with lusciously sweet apricot and toffee flavours, and is proving to be a winning vintage for the late-harvest variety. The 2014 Verdejo with its abundant yet intriguing citrus, floral and fruit flavours is gearing up to give its predecessor a run - the 2013 vintage won a stellar FIVE trophies on its release. Our fingers are certainly crossed for the Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show coming up next month!
