Starters: A sparkling winery restaurant is an ideal way to begin the festivities, as the bubbles leave the palette feeling light, refreshed and ready for the main course. Mains: A traditional Christmas Dinner should be accompanied by a red. Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot are all popular choices, but if these are a little heavy for your taste, a Pinot Noir is a lighter alternative. Or, if the thought of a full-bodied red along with a large meal in summer feels overwhelming, why not consider a sparkling red? Think Maestri – this works well with turkey, and can also fit just as easily with a cheese platter. If you’re having seafood this Christmas, the accompanying wine should be white. Sauvignon Blanc is always a safe bet; although Chardonnay works better with creamier seafood dishes. Dessert: The winery restaurants you choose should depend on the dessert you’re serving.
